Bamboo flooring is a member of the grass family, making it harder than most woods. Bamboo flooring is harder than most oaks and jarrah flooring.

Bamboo flooring is very eco friendly. Once cut down, it only takes about four to five years to fully rejuvenate, unlike oak and jarrah trees that take many decades. The bamboo used in our flooring is called Moso Bamboo and is different to the Grass Bamboo which pandas eat. Moso bamboo is very, very hard and by far too large for pandas to eat, therefore does no damage for them.

Good quality, fully treated bamboo flooring is 99% white ant proof. The bamboo flooring is manufactured from mature bamboo canes, which have at 5-7years growth and splitting to strips boiled in bath of boric acid and lime solution, the purpose of this bath is to extract the inherent starch and sugar that attracts termites or powder post beetles. Boric acid and lime are a natural non-toxic repellent and is used to ensure that our products will come to you best pest free and will continuer to be so throughout the duration of product life.

4. What is the different between vertical, horizontal and compressed flooring?

Vertical and horizontal flooring are basically the same in their properties but different in appearance. In vertical flooring, the bamboo is cut into strips and then compressed together with the strips laying vertically, hence giving a more linear appearance. In horizontal flooring the strips are laid horizontally and then compressed together to the make the flooring. In compressed flooring, the bamboo is shredded and compressed together in a giant block of bamboo then cut into floorboards. The result of this is that compressed flooring is a lot harder and more resistant to scratches and dents than the other two.
